Whether you're reading this because you're looking for help with lifestyle changes; weight loss, fitness, compulsion control, excess alcohol or smoking issues etc, or perhaps deeper emotional stuff like anxiety or depression, what we often share is the feeling or belief that we are alone, that we are faulty. With that can come shame. We can carry in our heads the belief that if anyone knew us really, our innermost feelings, our fears and thoughts about ourselves, others might judge, shun or reject us. Working as a coach and psychotherapist, (https://www.helenpearcetherapy.com/) two modes of working that while different, share a core concept of empathy, non judgement, and understanding, I have met many clients who fear that if they reveal their true selves, connections will be broken and they will be left out in the cold, ridiculed, or discarded. Coaching and counselling can be the first time clients feel truly listened to, truly heard, which in itself can bring immense relief and the knowledge that they are not faulty, weak, weird. That they are not alone! Being heard is the first step to change.
